Java "Extras"

BMPWriter
A class for writing BMP files from java.awt.Image objects. This class writes a BMP file with the fewest possible colours. It's not terribly fast, but it is well structured. It also comes with two classes and some sample images for testing. It is usable under JDK 1.0.2. Click to download the ZIP file (60K). Source is included.


Holt Software also produces a commercial class library to aid in Java programming. It includes a number of classes for doing simple I/O (a graphics or text console with save/print/quit buttons), a Java paragrapher, a Java program printer (bolds keywords and italicizes identifiers) and some quick and easy dialog boxes (status dialogs and message dialogs).
