How do I get a copy of Ready to Program with JavaTM Technology?
For an Individual User (e.g. Student)
You can obtain Ready in one of three ways:
- Purchase the textbook
Introduction to Programming with Java which
comes bundled with a CD containing the full version of the Ready to
Program software. Price is $49.95 (Cdn$ in Canada, US$ outside of
Canada). Click here for the order form.
- Purchase the software directly from Holt Software. The price is $24.95 (Cdn$)
in Canada and $19.95 (US$) outside of Canada. Shipping is extra. The
software comes with a printed copy of the Ready User's Manual.

- If your school or company has purchased a redistribution license, then you
may obtain the software free of charge from your school or business for your
own use.
For an Institution (e.g. School, College, University or Business)
You can obtain Ready in one of three ways:
- Purchase a site license. This license allows you to install the software on
a set number of machines in the institution The price includes free updates to
the software within the version. (i.e. 1.0 to 1.x).
A site can also purchase an additional license to redistribute the software
to their students free of charge. If they do not, then they may not redistribute
the software to their students.
Site licenses come with web, phone and e-mail support and notification of bug
fixes.
- Purchase a class set of textbooks. This licenses you to install the software
and teach on as many machines as you have bought textbooks. This does not give
the right to redistribute the software to the students.
This license comes with web support only.
- Purchase individual copies of the software. This licenses you to install the
software and teach on as many machines as you have bought copies of the software.
This does not give the right to redistribute the software to the students.

South African Residents
Holt Software is improving its services to educational Ready users in
South Africa by providing affordable access to the latest, fully-supported
version of Ready. The current version of Ready will come bundled with an
excellent new resource called: Exploring Java: A Programming Workbook for
Grade 10.
This workbook was developed by South African teachers Genevieve Wilcock,
Delia Kench and Craig Pournara especially for South African students.
