How do I get a copy of Turing?

For an Individual User (e.g. Student)

• Purchase the software directly from Holt Software. The price is $75.00 (Cdn$) in Canada and $75.00 (US$) outside of Canada. Shipping is included. The software comes with a printed copy of the Turing Reference Manual, a 870 page guide to all aspects of the Turing language. Click here for the order form.

• If your school or company has purchased a redistribution license, then you may obtain the software free of charge from your school or business for your own use.

For an Institution (e.g. School, College, University or Business)

• Purchase a site license. This license allows you to install the software on a set number of machines in the institution The price includes free upates to the software within the version. (i.e. 1.0 to 1.x).

  A site can also purchase an additional license to redistribute the software to their students free of charge. If they do not, then they may not redistribute the software to their students.

  Site licenses come with web, phone and e-mail support and notification of bug fixes.

• Purchase individual copies of the software. This licenses you to install the software and teach on as many machines as you have bought copies of the software. This does not give the right to redistribute the software to the students. This option is suitable for schools with less than 5 students taking computer science.   This license comes with web support only.

• Ontario Ministry of Education License. Publicly funded schools in the province of Ontario have a province-wide site license that allows them to use the Turing software for Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows in their schools free of charge. The software should be obtained by the board's OESS representative. The representative for a board can can be located at OSAPAC's web site, www.osapac.org. This license does not include a student redistribution license, which can be purchased separately.

  The Ministry license comes with web, phone and e-mail support.
